Zambia’s country code remains as 260.

  1. Mobile:

    Subscriber Number-length will take one extra digit to make total length equal to 7. Refer to examples given below, for a given subscriber number 164972, on different networks:

    CELTEL 098 164972 097 8164972
    CELTEL 099 164972 097 9164972

    Note: Both the old and the new numbers will be active for a period of six months from 1st May, 2007 to 31st October, 2007. Thereafter, the old six digit numbers will be disabled.

  2. Landline:

    The Fixed-line operator, Zamtel, will now have an NDC (National Destination Code) primarily for identification purposes.

    International call to a: Current dialling pattern New dialling pattern
    Lusaka number: +260 1 246702 +260 21 1 246702
    Ndola number: +260 2 620865 +260 21 2 620865

    Or if calling a landline number from a mobile device:

    Mobile call to a landline number: Current dialling pattern New dialling pattern
    Lusaka number: 01 246702 021 1 246702
    Ndola number: 02 620865 021 2 620865

    Note: However, dialling from landline to landline will remain as is now. Both dialling patterns will work for the period of six months from 1st May 2007 to 31st October, 2007.
